Flutter is a small palm sized device requiring no power source.
The patient simply exhales into a mouthpiece producing a slight pressure inside the device. This causes a small steel ball to vibrate within an internal chamber. This in turn causes a vibration that travels right down into the lungs. The mucus clinging to the lung walls is literally shaken off "like apples off a tree". Now loosened, the mucus can be coughed up with relative ease.
