EMG (Electromyography, measurement of muscle) Biofeedback is the only accurate way there is of assessing Pelvic Floor Muscle activity.
Until now the equipment used for this was exceedingly complicated to use and expensive. As a result only those lucky enough to be referred to a specialist have benefited from this technology.
Simplex uses this very same technology now simplified to the point that it can be used by anyone. The device, which is globally unique, has been specifically designed for the use of continence advisors and for the general public.
Through a small vaginal probe Simplex measures the tiny electrical impulses produced by the Pelvic Floor Muscles. It's measurements include: muscle activity at rest, muscle power, onset time and release time.
Using sophisticated software it processes this information to help you confirm your specific condition.
As you progress through your corrective exercises you can actually see the results of your efforts displayed on a LED screen. The harder you work the more LEDs light up. Fantastic! You can see that you're doing your exercises correctly. You know how well your doing them and you know what you have to achieve to restore your muscles back to full strength.
Through it's very nature muscle rehabilitation requires effort over a period of several weeks.
Simplex is the only device available to support you in every aspect during this time.
Simplex is designed for prevention as well as for cure. We advocate it should be used in conjunction with Pelvic Floor exercises long before and continued long after childbirth. To follow. Whilst the use use of EMS to address female incontinence is very widely accepted it is perhaps less well realised that the same therapy can be equally effective in combating male incontinence, both urinary and faecal.
EMS works by applying a very small electrical current to your muscles making them contract and relax in a very precise manner. This "automated exercising" strengthens and retrains the muscles and can even restore the nerve signals that make these muscles work. EMS is not a miracle cure and like any therapy there is never a guarantee of achieving 100% success. However in situations where regular exercise is likely to help, EMS is an option worth serious consideration:
- EMS delivers controlled exercise to the exact place it's needed. - EMS requires little or no physical effort. - It is not an unpleasant experience. - It is relatively low initial cost with minimal ongoing expense. - It is drug free, has no side effects and will not interfere with any medication you may be taking.
TeNS Medical has specialised in this area for over 10 years and we offer a good range of professional quality Pelvic EMS devices most of which will be found in incontinence clinics throughout the UK.
Any from our range would be suitable for male use but you do need to be aware that the instruction booklets are 99.9% female orientated. The electronic programmes for male and female application are the same. For addressing urinary problems females use a vaginal probe often combined with an anal probe for maximum effect. Males use just an anal probe. Apart from this difference, instructions and programmes are the same! Sometimes you'll see reference to the use of standard self adhesive skin electrodes. However in practice these are extremely difficult to us and therefore we don't recommend them for this application. This product is eligible for VAT Relief. Therefore:
